On cable there is even less reason to pay rental fees for modems or routers as you can use pretty much anything you want, you're not locked in like triple play fios customers are. | 2013-Apr-30 12:21 pm: · hey mods · |

| AnonMan Anon 2013-Apr-30 10:40 am Already outdated..If you ask me this is already outdated. I am currently beta testing a Comcast only device that is dual band 802.11ac and Docis 3. Can't share details on it due to NDA but it blows this thing away I can tell you... Why they didn't just wait a few more months and release the newer one vs. this older one first who knows... | 2013-Apr-30 10:40 am: · hey mods · |

| AnonMan Anon 2013-Apr-30 10:43 am At least it has 16 channels16 Channels, I bet this will be used for those new 205Mbps plans offered this summer. While yes the 8 channel ones could more channels is always better. Of course not many CMTS have beyond 8 channels. In fact I only thing a few do lol | 2013-Apr-30 10:43 am: · hey mods · |

| IowaCowboy Premium Member 2013-Apr-30 1:04 pm Just another inferior modemI'm not a big fan of Cisco cable gear (TWC uses it up in Maine) and there is a lot of chatter in the Comcast HSI forums about gateways being inferior. Many of the members advise using a separate router and modem and many people have CC put the gateways in bridge mode. For me, I just have my Motorola SB6120 and my Apple AirPort Extreme router (which is one of the best routers out there). I own my modem. | 2013-Apr-30 1:04 pm: · hey mods · |

What gives you the right to say that? And what exactly makes the Apple Air Port Extreme one of the best routers out there? In your opinion that is. The Linksys [Cisco] EA6500 is more advanced than the AirPort Extreme. The older Linksys routers that can be hacked to run third party firmware are superior to the AirPort, not in terms of specs but for the pure fact that you can run custom firmware and the end user has more control their own network. | 2013-May-1 2:43 am: · hey mods · |

| purpleturtle Anon 2013-Apr-30 1:41 pm MoCA 2.0There is one interesting bit: this box supports MoCA 2.0, which promises 400Mbps all the way up to 1Gbps+ throughput over local coax. What exactly does "...provides broader coverage than previous gear due to the MoCA standard" mean? | 2013-Apr-30 1:41 pm: · hey mods · |

MoCa 2 is a lot faster and would easily allow a single or multiple networked DVR's and computer to share video within the home or business. | 2013-Apr-30 2:17 pm: · hey mods · |

| FifthE1ement Member 2013-Apr-30 3:49 pm 5Ghz5Ghz is great for Condos and smaller houses as it has 1/1000th of the congestion of 2.4Ghz but the range is severely limited and its almost useless in large houses or multi-floor dwellings. If you can find a 5Ghz router with multiple external antennas that is the way to go, as the internal ones most of the routers have today are worthless for range and can make your network unusable. Most of the time customers who get a 5Ghz dual band router don't realize the router switched to the 2.4Ghz band to reach the farther portions of their house, defeating the purpose of spending the extra money on a 5Ghz router in the first place. 5th | 2013-Apr-30 3:49 pm: · hey mods · |

The only 5 GHz are the U-verse wireless receiver Cisco access points. | 2013-Apr-30 5:53 pm: · hey mods · |
