Do you have your business case in place for “democratized leadership development”?This was the topic of our presentation at the SHRM Talent conference in Las Vegas last week.During this two-day conference, we heard from many HR professionals in the L&D space about their work so far and where they still experience challenges. The three key areas that attendees wanted to learn how LPI addresses were:1️⃣ How do you build a business case for “democratized leadership development”?2️⃣ How do we integrate our experts/specialists into the initiative?3️⃣ How can we go beyond offering more training programs, as this can be hard to fund?Which of these three topics are most critical to you and your organization? You can learn more about item 2 by following this link: https://lnkd.in/gd9Q2QRcEarlier this year, we published the third edition of the bestselling Leadership Pipeline book. We were excited to introduce our free book club, and many participants were pleased to sign up for the short learning series that will start in late spring 2024. To those of you who were unable to attend the conference, we invite you to reach out; then, we can share our presentation with you, too, and elaborate on the conversations we had with the many attendees.

This week's #BookRecommendation - "A Time to Think" is a book written by Nancy Kline. In this book, Nancy Kline explores the power of creating a thinking environment where individuals can engage in meaningful and productive conversations. She emphasizes the importance of providing people with a space where they feel heard, respected, and free to express their thoughts and ideas without judgment. Kline introduces the concept of the "Thinking Partnership," a process that encourages deep, independent thinking within a supportive and non-interfering environment. This book has been influential in various fields, including leadership development, coaching, and organizational management. It underscores the significance of fostering a culture of open and reflective dialogue to enhance #problemsolving, #innovation, and #personalgrowth. 🧠

In our most recent post, we explore five ways leaders can create a climate that helps your organization retain employees. One of our suggestions is to initiate with up-and-coming leaders. Here’s an excerpt:To retain employees, organizational leaders should continually keep an eye out for productive, enthusiastic, or gifted workers and invite them to engage with the organization in new ways. Invite a promising employee to join a client meeting, for instance, or ask them to share their ideas about how to make a program better. By inviting, listening, and valuing the input of your employees, you send a message that they’re skilled and that they have potential to move up. This helps boost morale and can also strengthen your organization’s leadership development plan.Click to read the rest of our suggestions: https://lnkd.in/g2PrNHzD #projectmanager #projectmanagement #businessconsulting #pmtips

Being a leader is not always about having direct reports. Specialists are often ignored as part of leadership development initiatives however :- Leading is being proactive and sharing expertise. - Leading is engaging in projects and putting in the time to drive an initiative to completion. - Leading is consistently showing up in a way that role models an organizations values.Check out the post below 👇 and learn how #leadershippipelineinstitute can support your Specialist Pipeline.

How do you ensure that your organisation has democratised leadership development? OK, let's go back a step. Firstly, how do you define WHO needs leadership development? Traditionally, this has been provided to those who have direct reports, but what about those other leaders, the ones who lead projects, specialities and domains of expertise? Does it not make sense that you take a 'zipped up' approach so that ALL those who need to lead and drive results through others are developed? My colleagues in the US have recently been discussing this interesting talking point with HR leaders, with some great take aways, including helping them to make this a reality when they get back to work.#leadershipdevelopment #learninganddevelopment #developmentforall

What goes on in Vegas, doesn't need to stay in Vegas. So how do you .... build a business case for democratised leadership development? ... integrate our Specialists? ... go way beyond skills programmes to get a real ROI, in the real world? Why gamble on the answers?
