ResponsibilitiesDESCRIPTION:Assists the Physical Sciences Laboratory Manager in day-to-day duties and provides direct assistance to the physics instructional staff to ensure that physics laboratory exercises are conducted appropriately and safely.

Essential Functions

• Ensures that all physics laboratories (PHY1020, PHY1053C, PHY1054C, PHY2048C, PHY2049C) are set up promptly and properly daily.
• Assists laboratory manager in preparing earth science laboratories (AST1002, GLY1000, MET1010, OCE1001).
• Assists instructors in preparing demonstrations and instructional materials as needed.
• Works directly with instructors to troubleshoot lab equipment or computer programs.
• Assists instructors with student supervision and proctoring.
• Performs test on all equipment and supplies to ensure proper functionality.
• Maintains complete inventories of all physics equipment and supplies.
• Updates laboratory prep sheets as needed; must be approved by Lab Manager.
• Works with the Lab Manager to order necessary supplies and equipment.
• Returns all physics supplies and equipment to its designated storage area when no longer in use.
• Cleans physics lab benches and counters daily, keeping them organized and free of clutter.
• Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the physical science labs and classrooms.
• Maintains and organizes physics’ storeroom, the physical science workroom, the earth science storeroom, and all storage cabinets.
• Performs other site and position specific responsibilities and work as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

Desired Qualifications

• Associate of Arts degree from an accredited institution.
• Two semesters of College Physics with Calculus including Laboratory.
• Experience as a paraprofessional.

Pay Benefits And Work Schedule$15.58 Hourly up to 29 hours per week.Conditions of EmploymentFinalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020.
