A24 is often praised for its award-winning dramas, but it’s no secret that the production house really shines in the horror department. Thanks to its knack for spotting wonderfully terrifying stories, it’s been able to scoop up and churn out some of the most compelling horror movies of the modern era.
Don’t believe me? Hereditary would like a word. Toni Collette’s “I am your mother” speech still haunts me to this day. (Not to mention the decapitation scene.) What can we say? A24’s flicks tend to stick with you, and below, we’ve rounded up its most chilling releases. There are lesser-known films like It Comes at Night and Saint Maud, as well as popular releases like X and The Lighthouse.
Each one features a wildly different premise, but I promise that all of them will ruin your sleep tonight. Remember, there’s always more to an A24 film than you’d expect. Even the simplest plots, like the whodunit in Bodies Bodies Bodies, harbor a major twist.
